A seleção cuidadosa do vocabulário significa que se você acessar regularmente, em pouco tempo você vai dominar as palavras mais úteis da língua, o que por sua vez vai melhorar suas habilidades de falar, entender, ler e escrever. Provavelmente você nem vá precisar, mas tem como diminuir a velocidade da fala entrando nos aprimoramentos do Windows Media Player.
Você pode começar ouvindo o artigo, de preferência várias vezes, sem olhar o texto.Vai ver que sua compreensão melhora um pouco de cada vez. Depois, leia o texto, tentando adivinhar as palavras que você não sabe por semelhança com português; por uma análise de raizes, sufixos, e prefixos; e por classe de palavra: se a palavra en questão é um verbo, substantivo, advérbio, etc. Se nada disso der certo, clique na palavra desconhecida para acessar uma definição do famoso dicionário Merriam-Webster. Para familiarizar-se com as diferenças entre o inglês falado e escrito, ouça e leia conjuntamente várias vezes. Agora você está pronto a voltar ao primeiro passo, ouvir sem ler, mas vai ver que agora entende tudo ou quase tudo.
Na minha experiência, os relativamente poucos alunos que fizeram isso todo dia progrediram tremendamente e ao fim de poucos meses estavam procurando alguma coisa mais desafiante para ouvir: um final feliz.
